Trying On At Home

Sue Rice Swimwear

WELCOME TO SUE RICE ONLINE

We hope to make the transition from our physical store to our web store a pleasant one, but a few reservations were expressed before we closed our doors...

The most common response to closing our Glebe shop was, "How can I buy a swimsuit online? Don`t I need to try it on first?" Yes buying a swimsuit without trying it on seems crazy! You will try it on but it will now just be at your place instead of ours! Seriously though, we understand that reassurance about the online process, now that our Glebe store has closed, is what you want. Most importantly of all, you can order and receive delivery within a week (usually the next business day), try it on in the comfort of your own home with your fan club present (or not), and if it`s not right, call or email us and we will issue an authorization number for an exchange or refund. See our Returns Policy for more info. You can even skype us for some face-to-face advice (see below).

"But how do I choose the right swimsuit?" Well, if you have been a Glebe customer, you have an advantage. You know your style and size! And if you have forgotton or can`t read the label, we probably have your purchase history. Contact us to check. Armed with that info, it`s easy to browse our swimwear categories on the left menu. If you are new to Sue Rice, go to our Size Calculator now.

"There seem to be so many sizes. How do I know my size?" Most styles fit a range of bust sizes and body lengths, that`s why there can be so many sizes listed. If you have a Sue Rice swimsuit, you can check out the inside label. You will notice 3 components on the label: a number (10, 12, 14 etc), a bust size (A, B, C, D, DD and/or E) and a body length (petit, average and/or tall). There will only be one number but there could be a range of bust sizes and body lengths that your swimsuit fits. For example a bikini and a tankini will fit all body lengths by virtue of the fact that they are 2-pieces.

To buy the same swimsuit, choose any of the combinations shown on the label because they relate to the same swimsuit. For example, if the label shows 12|B,C,D|average,tall, 6 slight figure variations will fit that particular style. In other words, choose 12B/average, 12B/tall, 12C/average, 12C/tall, 12D/average or 12D/tall. You will be ONE of these sizes, but all of these body shapes will fit the one swimsuit. Tricky? It`s simply our way to minimize the possibility of buying something that is totally unsuitable for your body shape - a potentially frustrating, freight-costly and time-wasting exercise worth avoiding if possible.

If in doubt, or if you want something different, go to our Size Calculator to reestablish your Sue Rice size. It`s really worth NOT guessing. A list of suitable styles will then be revealed saving you time and energy.

SKYPE - A CHANGEROOM IN YOUR HOME

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky trying on a swimsuit at home without any professional advice. There really is no substitute for a personal fitter, and now you can have one in your very own home! For free!

At Sue Rice, we have just introduced Skype, an interactive, free video/phone link from anywhere in the world. If you have a computer and a webcam or a smartphone, you can call us, or we can call you, and we can have a face to face chat as if you were present in our store. How fab is that!

All you need to do is download Skype or the Skype app for your smartphone, add our address, sue.rice.swimwear to your skype contact list and you are ready to go. Make sure you are calling us during office hours in Sydney (10.00am - 5.00pm weekdays) or contact us to make an appointment. Check the time in Sydney here.

You can call us for advice before you make a purchase or after you receive your parcel. You may have some fitting questions and it`s much easier for us to advise you if we can actually see you.

If you don`t have Skype or don`t want to install it, don`t worry; when you receive your parcel, look for "Tips for Trying on (your Swimsuit) " sent with every order.

Because our trained staff are not there to help you put on your swimsuit, we devised some Do’s & Dont’s to help you get the best fit without us.

The "Tips" you receive will be specific to the style ordered but here is a combined list:

  • In a one piece swimsuit, Do pull onto the body right up under the arms by the side seams. If the swimsuit seems tight as you try to pull it over the hips, wiggle into it. It’s supposed to be firm and it’ll feel fabulous once you get it on. Do adjust the back to a comfortable position.
  • Don’t pull the leg down at the side – this makes the swimsuit feel short, pulls on the shoulder strap & flattens the bust. Most Sue Rice leg cuts sit in the natural crease of the leg/hip. If you feel you want a lower leg cut….you might need to choose another style.
  • In a tankini, Do ALWAYS step into the top (not over the head). Our hips are smaller than our shoulders so it’s easier; and antiperspirant and lipsticks can soil the swimsuit if it is put on and off over the head.
  • (Emma & Marilyn halter only)Tie the neck firmly so that the bust is supported but your neck still feels comfortable. It is even better if someone else can tie it for you. Once you have tied it, you can simply slip it over the head, avoiding the need to tie and untie it each time. (cross-over Marilyn only) Adjust straps into a comfortable position.
  • (Marilyn only) If you want to change from a halter to a cross-over, you can do it yourself if you are good with a needle and thread. For conversion from halter to cross-over – simply cross the straps, position about 4cm from the side seam at the back, tuck ends inside, and stitch in place along the edge. Conversion from cross–over to a halter – requires carefully unpicking the stitching from the back to avoid making a hole. Sue Rice takes no responsibility for any damage incurred, so if you are in any doubt, send the swimsuit back to us to adjust.
  • (Celeste only) Fold the bust section down before stepping into the top, so that you are pulling it up from the under–bust–seam. Position this seam under the breasts and flip the bust section back up. Make sure your breasts are supported comfortably inside the cup section by leaning forward and pulling sides of bra gently sideways so that your breasts fall into place. The horizontal seams/darts, perpendicular to the side boning, should be positioned over the nipples…then the crossover section will fall correctly.
  • (Marilyn, Emma and Celeste) Adjust sides by sliding the drawstrings up or down to desired height and tie bows.
  • (Jessica only) Make sure your bust is supported comfortably by standing upright, relaxing shoulders, putting thumbs at side-seams under the arms, pulling sides of bra gently sideways & up and letting your bust fall into place. You will feel a relaxation on the shoulders. Powernet should sit under the bust giving a soft but firm uplift. The back should sit comfortably with this adjustment.
  • (All tankinis) Adjust superpants into position. Notice there is no bulge–creating elastic and therefore no visible pants line.
  • In an underwire swimsuit, Do make sure your bust is supported comfortably inside cups. Lean forward, pull wire gently sideways & let your bust fall into the cups.
  • Do leave the gusset protector intact until you’re sure you want to keep the swimsuit.
  • Do contact us if you need more advice.
  • Don’t worry, if you’re still unhappy – when you’re not here with us in the store, even with our Sue Rice size analysis calculator, we can ’t always get it right. Just pack it up and send it back to us straight away and we’ll happily issue a refund or organize an exchange. Don’t forget to tell us the problem and your requirements if you want to exchange.

Please note: In an effort to keep swimsuits affordable, return freight and any duty and taxes from outside Australia are the responsibility of the purchaser. Refunds will only be issued on the return of the garments within 1 week for Australian orders and 1 month for orders outside Australia, from the date of receipt. All returned items must be in new condition with gusset protector & swing tags intact. Adjustments and refunds will be issued back the same way the initial transaction was made; either to Paypal or to the credit card used at the time of purchase. See our Returns Policy for details.
